Michael graduated from the law school of Nova Southeastern University, Shepard Broad Law Center, located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in June 2000, and was subsequently admitted to practice law in Florida in October 2000. Michael then went to work for the law firm of Russo & Mitchell, P.A., a south Florida personal injury and civil law firm, representing the seriously injured and plaintiffs in all matters relating to civil litigation. Michael is also a 25-year veteran of the Miami-Dade Police Department, having served as a police officer, sergeant, lieutenant, captain, and major. Following his admission to the Florida Bar, Michael often represented fellow officers who sought his representation in matters relating to marital and family law. In 2007, Michael joined The Mitchell Law Firm, a civil trial law firm representing clients in all areas of civil litigation, located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. In 2008, Michael relocated to Stafford, Virginia in support of a career opportunity made available to his wife, Diana, at that time. After sitting for the Virginia State Bar in July 2008, Michael was admitted to practice law in the Commonwealth of Virginia in October 2008. In January 2009, Michael founded his own law firm and opened his practice in Virginia, where he represents clients in all matters relating to marital and family law, personal injury law, auto accidents, and civil litigation.
Michael also provides criminal defense and DWI representation, after consultation and a review of the facts specific to each case. His tenure with the Miami-Dade Police Department included extensive experience in Internal Affairs, investigating police impropriety and wrongdoing. This background, coupled with his extensive knowledge of police operations and procedure, provides a unique resource in his evaluation of whether there was police misconduct involved during the arrest of our clients. Michael is available for initial consultations weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Evening and Saturday appointments are also available upon special request.
